Acupuncture is a minimally invasive treatment modality that involves inserting very fine needles into specific points in the human body.
It is an extremely safe and effective form of treatment that can help with a variety of health conditions and injuries by increasing blood flow, decreasing tension to soft tissues and promoting stimulation to the nervous system.
Seaside Chiropractic offers 2 different types of acupuncture treatments: electro-acupuncture and traditional Chinese Acupuncture.
Electro-acupuncture involves the use of electrical stimulation to needles inserted in the body. The practitioner begins by assessing for any weakness, tightness or adhesions in the area of complaint. Needles are then inserted into affected areas and stimulated by an electrical current. The electrical current helps weakened muscles to contract and promotes blood flow to areas of pain and tension. The result is a greater balance of strength and mobility, which can help improve function and decrease pain. Jason Wincey, Dr. Alan Schneider and Dr. Kira Swan incorporate this technique as part of their treatment plans with their patients.
Traditional Chinese Acupuncture
Traditional Chinese acupuncture involves restoring balance and energy (qi) within the body through different meridians. The needles are often inserted throughout various parts of the body in order to decrease muscle tone, improve blood flow and decrease inflammation. This approach is very helpful for musculoskeletal injuries, as well as for stress reduction and anxiety. Jason Wincey can also use these points in combination with electro-acupuncture as part of his treatment plans.
